Originally thatched, and the Estate Manager's residence, upper parts of the building incorporated a pigeonnery within the thick granite walls. Converted and modernised for residential use some forty years ago, Mews Cottage has recently been enlarged and updated by incorporating a part formerly used as a private Chapel. Now comprising three large bedrooms, each with its own bath or shower room and WC, two are upstairs and one on the ground floor.

There is a dining hall, separate kitchen with breakfast table and charming sitting room with a 32” flat-screen TV. Both dining and sitting rooms have wood burning stoves. WiFi is provided free of charge. A cot and high-chair are always available. All rooms face south across its two private courtyards, one with gravel and sun loungers and the other with lawn. Parking at the rear is accessed from the Estate’s private road, adding to the peace of the setting.

Furnishings are modern and tasteful and luxury equipment enables guests sharing to enjoy considerable comfort. Beds are equipped with high-quality cotton sheets and duvets. The kitchen is complete with crockery, cutlery glassware and utensils to cater for most occasions. The courtyard has a small outbuilding with barbecue. The beautiful and renowned Bonython Estate Gardens are available to guests to enjoy the tranquillity beyond the cottage’s own courtyards. For those who want to explore further, the magic of the Lizard peninsula is close by. Guide books are available to help the intrepid – though many parts are now rightly famous – Southern Cornwall retains quiet places, even in the height of summer.
